Well that's see, why do I crochet? The answer could be that I LOVE to do it but it's actually more than that.
My grandma passed away suddenly about 2 years ago and was a avid knitted and crocheter. As we were getting her house ready to sell I wanted to hang on to the yarn and unfinished projects that she had stored away or was currently working on. One problem.....I had no idea what to do. So I figured I would start with knitting. That was a bad choice! I just couldn't get the hang of doing this with 2 pointy needles. Crochet it was!! I remembered way back in my childhood days that she had tried to teach me but couldn't get past the starting chain of a project. Unfortunately back then you wouldn't even think of making a scarf from a bunch of chains. I decided now was the time to throw myself into this learning process. I wanted to remember my grandma and I must not have had enough to do with a newborn and 1 year old to take care of. YouTube was my answer. I tried so many stitches and watched so many videos I was convinced that I was an expert and I could make anything! I settled on a newborn sized owl hat that my little one wore once, but I was, and still am SO proud of myself for learning how to make something!! I kept creating from there and now I'm here trying to learn more and continue with what I started.
Everyday I sit down and crochet away....I, like everyone else, have those days where I just can't do anything else except zone in to the tv or don't want to look at the mess the kids made. But crocheting keeps me sane and helps me to relax.
